Happy 2014 to all two readers of this blog!

Around this time of year, various types of lists predominate. In fact, Bombay Bhel was recently mentioned in one. That mention prompted me to do a list of my own, on entirely random things, unrelated to writing, and with no theme in particular. It's likely to be the direction this blog takes for 2014, but more on that later.

So, as Julie Andrews warbled those many years ago, these are a few of my favorite things.

1. Favorite music video of all time
I haven't watched music videos for many years, but this one still remains fresh in my memory.

2. Favorite concept album
This was a tough choice, but the winner is
 Misplaced Childhood--Marillion

3. Favorite Victorian novelist
Okay, so maybe there's some stuff related to writing after all.

 Charles Dickens

4. Favorite subway system
The oldest in the country

5. Favorite book read in 2013
In a nod to all the other lists I've read recently.

 American Gods
