Book review: Split, by Swati Avasthi

I discovered this book by accident, while searching for a Margaret Atwood novel. Once in a while, a YA novel comes along that grabs you by the neck and forces you to face unpleasant realities, yet keeps you riveted to the page, wanting more in spite of yourself. Split is such a novel. The writing is superb, the character development excellent, and the story told with a voice that doesn't sugarcoat the complex issues that surround domestic violence. A compelling read, but not if your taste runs to light, fluffy, sparkly vampire stories.
